The Site is Now Fancier and Faster

I’ve spent the last few weeks rebuilding lutherwealth.com from the ground up — a new design, faster pages, and a cleaner reading experience, especially on phones. I really like the new look and hope it will let the reader focus on the content and advice better than the old site did.

Nerdy details

If you’re curious about the technical details, the old site was a WordPress.org blog using the Wordpress TwentySeventeen theme. That was a little heavy for what I needed and I spent a lot of time over the years messing with things to try to get it to load faster.

The new site is an Astro static blog with a simple email subscription system. It should load quicker for almost all users. The only downside is we lost the comment functions on posts, but that wasn’t used very much.

One big bonus of the re-design– I used Claude Design to set up a whole design system for Luther Wealth, so all of my future presentation materials, client communications, and documentation will now match the style of the new site, giving everything at Luther Wealth a consistent look. This includes color palette, typography, icons, everything! I was really happy with the results.

A few things worth knowing:

• All the old links still work. Every article lives at the same address it always has, and the RSS feed is in the same place.
• The content hasn’t changed. The full archive of posts is still here, along with the investing basics and personal finance basics guides.
• The site doesn’t track you. It sets no cookies and has no analytics, no tracking pixels, no external scripts, no embedded iframes, and no Google Fonts or other CDN assets — every page is served entirely from our own site. The details are in the privacy policy.

Email subscribers: you’re covered

As part of the move, new posts are now delivered by a new email system — and I’ve carried the subscriber list over, so if you were getting posts by email before, you’ll keep getting them with nothing to do on your end.
